Una pagina sull'educazione degli italiani

The publication of this unpublished work by Aldo de Bernart (1925 - 2013) figure of a scholar engaged in Salentinian studies, to whom a volume of Studies "in honor" (Galatina, 1998) and one "in memory" (Lecce, 2015) have been dedicated, happens in coincidence with the centenary of Galateo, given the great interest he has always shown towards the humanist of Galatone. An educator particularly sensitive to the great themes of pedagogy, he could not complete the study he had planned and of which this page is a clear, though synthetic, testimony. The strong interest in the treatise "on the education of Italians" becomes a chance not to be missed to make topical the thought of Galateo, a stimulus to research that can make emerge not only the patriotic value, as was already done by some critics immediately after the attainment of the unification of Italy, but also the pedagogical one that was most dear to de Bernart. This fragment confirms its great versatility. Putting the educational problem at the center of his interests is a foregone conclusion to de Bernart, but at the same time it gives back vigor to a thesis already dear to Croce.
