Soil Assessment — Soil Clinical Moisture Level (BKF)
The soil-based moisture level is a characteristic value for the assessment of the habitat for natural plants (associations) and is evaluated by soil water balances. These are mainly controlled by water retention capacity, groundwater connection, precipitation and evapotranspiration. Sites with very low (dry) or very high (wet) soil-based moisture levels can usually only be used for agriculture with high effort and are therefore often of particular interest as extreme sites for nature conservation. With the soil-based moisture level, a natural soil function is assessed in accordance with § 2(2) of the BBodSchG, namely in accordance with point 1.a) the livelihood and habitat for humans, animals, plants and soil organisms. The criterion chosen for this purpose is the location potential for natural plant societies with the characteristic value of soil-based moisture level. The maps are available for the following scale levels: — 1: 1,000-10 000 for high-resolution or parcel-sharp planning, — 1: 10,001-35,000 for municipal planning, — 1: 35.001-100,000 for planning in larger regions, — 1: 100.001-350,000 for nationally differentiated planning, — 1: 350,001-1000,000 for nationwide to nationwide planning.
