The purpose of this study was to examine the effects of active beaver dams on sequestered carbon in subalpine valleys of the Sierra Nevada across a temporal scale. Specifically, carbon stored in floodplain sediments and above and below ground vegetation was measured in 8 beaver meadows to quantify carbon storage.
