Nova Research Graph

Nova Research Graph is an experimental prototype that demonstrates how a Wikibase instance can be used to structure and explore scholarly information. The main goal is to practically validate Wikibase as a foundation for: exploring academic data; creating overview pages (authors, publications, institutions); performing relational and temporal analysis; experimenting with SPARQL queries tailored to real-world use cases. Inspired by tools like Scholia, it adopts a graph-based approach applied to a specific dataset, outside the Wikidata ecosystem. It is a proof of concept, focused on idea exploration rather than technical optimization or production use. This prototype represents a first step towards the development of a Knowledge Graph–based CRIS, illustrating the potential of open, flexible, and interoperable infrastructures for managing scholarly information. The codebase was mostly developed using vibe coding practices, incorporating AI-assisted code generation; authorship and intellectual responsibility remain with the authors.
