Metagenomic analysis of marine sediment microorganisms via read-cloud sequencing

The microbial communities of the deep-sea marine benthos have been historically under-sampled and poorly characterized. Analysis of the genetic composition and diversity of deep-sea benthic microbial communities can thus provide insight into the metabolic potential of organisms inhabiting a vast environment. We analyzed two communities from sediment sampled at water depths of 500m and 1500m, via read-cloud sequences in an effort to obtain high quality metagenome-assembled genomes.
