Whole genome assembly of Alternaria brassicae, a necrotrophic fungal pathogen, causing black spot or blight disease on Rapeseed-Mustard. In this study, the whole genome of A. brassicae isolate from Pantnagar(Ab-PNT) region was sequenced using PacBioHifi and further refined by Illumina paired end reads. It has genome size of 33821513 bp (33.82 Mb) assembled into 10 contigs with GC content of about 50% and encoding 12631 genes. The genome sequence and annotation data generated in the current study are an invaluable tool for intra and inter-species analysis as well as gene functional studies, which could significantly enhance our understanding of this important infectious disease of plants. The data generated from the study will provide opportunities for further investigation into the molecular mechanisms underpinning the A. brassicae-Brassica pathosystem. It would be beneficial for the global database of fungus genomes.
