Effects of depensation on the year of onset and peak of the Nile perch boom.

We illustrate depensation as a lower population growth rate when the Nile perch population is at low densities. The upper value in each cell represents the calculated onset of boom under each depensation scenario, and the lower value represents the peak of the boom. Depensation tests are read as follows: in columns – reduced growth rate as a percentage of 0.73. In rows: Nile perch biomass until which depensation is effective (arbitrarily centred around the indicator of the onset of the boom Bini) (rows) on the timing of the start and peak of the Nile perch boom (top and lower year in each cell, respectively), in bold, the standard, no-depensation situation.
