This metadata entry refers to measurements of oceanic dimethylsulphide (DMS) and dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) made by Peter Liss during the AMT5 research cruise in the North and South Atlantic as part of the Atlantic Meridionial Transect programme. The cruise began on 14th September 1997 in the UK and ended on 17th October 1997 in the Falklands with a spatial coverage of +49N to +50S latitude and +8W and +58W longitude.
The data consists of:
-225 measurements of the concentration of dissolved dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration and gas chromatography);
-225 measurements of the concentration of particulate dimethylsulphoniopropionate (DMSP) per unit volume of the water column by Millipore prefiltration and gas chromatography); and
-228 measurements of the concentration of dimethylsulphide (DMS) per unit volume of the water column by filtration, purging, cryogenic trapping and gas chromatography.
