Shotgun metagenomics profiling of the gut microbiota of the adult citrus root weevil Diaprepes abbreviatus

The goal was to characterize the gut microbiota of adult Diaprepes abbreviatus, an agricultural pest of major concern in citrus-growing regions. Using shotgun metagenomic sequencing, we analyzed the bacterial communities present in dissected gut tissues of wild-caught female and male insects collected from a lemon tree farm in Florida and Puerto Rico.
