The table shows for each emission cut option (column 1), the number of people in Study 1 who chose to reduce emissions by this amount (x) or less (column 2), and the number of people who chose to reduce emissions by more than this amount (column 3). These values were communicated to participants in the with-norm condition of Study 2 via the pie chart incorporated into the graphical interfaces for this condition (see Fig. 3). For example, for a 5% emission cut, the pie chart showed that in Study 1, 15 out of 120 people chose to reduce emissions by this amount or less, whereas 105 out of 120 people chose to reduce emissions by more than 5%.
