Ecology Lab 2

The silver maple trees were measured in York University's Danby Woodlot.The diameter of each adult silver maple tree trunks were measured at chest height and in cm using a transect measuring tape. The canopy coverage percentage was estimated by making a square with your fingers and holding it up to estimate how much sky is seen through the leaves of the adult maple measured. The distance from one adult silver maple to the nearest silver maple sapling was measured in cm using a transect measuring tape. The diamer of the silver maple sapling was also measured in cm. There is a total of 10 silver maple adult trees and 10 saplings that were measured. The silver maple saplings were estimated as less than the average height.
