DRECE Study

The data and codes included in this collection belong to the DRECE project.<br>DRECE was designed in 1991 to know the real situation of the Spanish population upon the risk of developing cardiovascular diseases, based on the prevalence of risk factors and their relationship with dietary habits. A cohort of 4,679 people between 5 and 59 years old was included, stratified by sex and age, randomly selected throughout the national territory, both rural and urban. At baseline in 1991 a food frequency questionnaire was carried out, designed and validated for epidemiological studies in the Spanish population. Dietary information was categorized following the NOVA classification according to the extent of food processing.In this database you can find demographic characteristics, dietary data (nutritional characteristics and ultra-processed intake according to the NOVA classification) and mortality of the cohort.The code included in this collection aims to evaluate the association between ultra-processed food intake and all-cause mortality in a representative sample of Spanish population.A "read me" document is available with more detailed information.<br>
