MicroRNA sequencing in liver, control vs frozen hatchling painted turtle, Chrysemys picta marginata

Painted Turtle(Chrysemys picta marginata) eggs normally hatch in the fall, but the hatchlings usually remain in the nest over winter, then dig their way out in spring. They are the highest known vertebrate species to experience and survive freezing. Hatchling turtle are able to withstand 53% of total extracellular body freezing. Herein, we report the investigation of the role of microRNAs, a quick and reversible post-transcriptional key regulator of virtually all biological functions, in hatchling turtle.
