The present work focuses in the virus-like particles characterized in the parasitic wasp Venturia canescens. These particles, devoid of DNA, insure the wasp progeny survival. In this study, we demonstrate that VLPs originate from the integration of a nudivirus genome in the genome of a V. canescens ancestor. VLPs thus consist in wasp virulence proteins wrapped in viral envelopes.
