SST profiles and CESM2 model builds for "Westward extension of the Western North Pacific subtropical high forced by sea surface temperature anomaly patterns"

<p>This repository provides archives of the Community Earth System Model version 2.2.0 (CESM2.2.0) and case directories for the simulations used in the "Westward extension of the Western North Pacific Subtropical High forced by sea surface temperature anomaly patterns" manuscript. The paper examines the modeled subtropical high's westward extension in response to various spatially and temporally restricted sea surface temperature (SST) forcings, which are also archived in this repository.</p>

<p>The repository bundle includes the original 12-month sea surface temperature (SST) climatology forcing profiles and the case directories for the control, WEST, 2xWEST, and 4xWEST simulations. The WEST simulation is initialized with an SST profile corresponding to a westward extension of the Western North Pacific subtropical high (WPSH). The 2xWEST and 4xWEST simulations are doubled and quadrupled WEST SST profiles, respectively, and are used to assess the WPSH's response to an enhanced SST anomaly pattern.  Files include:</p>

<li>16 profiles of monthly sea surface temperature (SST) climatologies in which the underlying SST anomalies are spatially and temporally restricted around the North Pacific basin (original_sst_profiles.tar.gz). The naming of each file corresponds to simulation/experiment nomenclature outlined in the manuscript.</li>
<li>Control simulation initialized on the 1979-2020 SST climatology, and represents a case in which there is no westward extension of the WPSH (amip_f2000climo_2deg_cam6_era5_control.tar.gz).</li>
<li>WEST simulation initialized on a 12-month SST composite of years in which the summer WPSH extended westward (amip_f2000climo_2deg_cam6_era5_west.tar.gz).</li>
<li>2xWEST simulation initialized on a doubled WEST SST profile (amip_f2000climo_2deg_cam6_era5_2xwest.tar.gz).</li>
<li>4xWEST simulation initialized on a doubled WEST SST profile (amip_f2000climo_2deg_cam6_era5_4xwest.tar.gz).</li>
