Microbial Community Analysis in Dongdagou Stream Sediments Using Amplicon Sequencing

This project aims to characterize the microbial community structure and diversity in sediment samples collected from the Dongdagou stream, a mining-impacted water system in Baiyin, Gansu Province, China. Using high-throughput amplicon sequencing of the 16S rRNA gene and ITS, we investigate how heavy metal contamination influences microbial (bacteria, archaea, fungi) populations and their potential ecological functions. The data generated will provide insights into microbial responses to environmental stressors and contribute to understanding biogeochemical cycling in polluted aquatic ecosystems.
