Gut microbiota and depression

Depression is a disease that severely impairs social function. However, the mechanisms underlying the development of depression remain unclear. Therefore, there is an urgent need to explore the new pathogenesis of depression. Here, we used gas chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify short-chain fatty acid changes and liquid chromatography-mass spectrometry to identify amino acids in the mice's fecal. Pearson/Spearman correlation analysis was conducted to investigate the correlations between amino acid or short-chain fatty acids (SCFAs) changes and behavioral outcomes.
