Salmonella enterica subsp. enterica colistin resistance Genome sequencing

Colistin is an effective antibiotic for treatment of most multidrug-resistant Gram-negative bacteria. The emergence of colistin-resistant Enterobacteriales from human and animal sources is a public health concern. Here, we aimed to determine the colistin resistance prevalence and molecular mechanisms of colistin resistance, among Salmonella spp. isolated from humans at the Italian Surveillance system of enteric infections (Enter-Net Italia).
