Somniosus microcephalus (Greenland shark) is considered to be the longest-living vertebrate on Earth. In this BioProject, we for the first time obtained samples suitable for whole transcriptome sequencing. Although the samples (and isolated RNA) were partially degraded, we believe that the assembled sequences will be very useful for the community of researchers in the fields of Evolutionary biology and Aging.
