This dataset provides structured data of the bi-stability of bi-layer structure via fused filament fabrication-based 4D printing. The dataset accompanies the journal publication entitled "Rationalising the onset of bistability in polylactic acid (PLA) bilayer laminates using Fused Filament Fabrication (FFF)" in the journal <b>Virtual and Physical Prototyping</b>. It enables readers to reproduce key results presented in the paper regarding the bi-stability of the 3D printed bi-layer structure, including: <br> <ul> <li>3D printing data such as stl file of the bi-layer structure and corresponding Gcode for printing <br> <li>Data of curvature measurement and bending energy<br> <li>Input, output and analyses data of thermal simulations (local temporal profiles and temperature fields, etc.) and calculation of crystallinity upbound<br> <li>DSC data of material thermal bahaviour<br> </ul> <br> Total data size: ~240 MB
