Towards Sustainable Water Infrastructure in Indigenous Communities of Peninsular Malaysia: The Role of an Inclusive Participatory Approach

This research delves into the challenge of unequal access to clean water faced by vulnerable Indigenous communities in Peninsular Malaysia, particularly the Orang Asli. It highlights issues with water infrastructure and the lack of involvement of these communities in decision-making regarding water resources. The study aims to design sustainable water solutions through a transdisciplinary approach, incorporating participatory research and qualitative-quantitative combinative research. The study emphasises the importance of community involvement, cultural understanding, and evidence-based policies for enduring water services. A water filtration system prototype shows promise, but further studies and local engagement are crucial for its successful implementation and sustainability.
