Whole Genome Characterization of Bacillus cereus Associated with Specific Disease Manifestations

To understand the relationship between genotype and clinical phenotype of B. cereus, we collected 24 samples with distinct phenotypes including bacteremia, sepsis, hemolysis, meningoencephalitis, skin infection, diarrhea, and fecal colonization. Two environmental isolates were also included. Sequences of these isolates were compared, and differences in relative gene abundance and other relevant strain characteristics were analyzed.
