Digital Platforms and Health Governance in China

This thesis examines how digital health platforms are reshaping healthcare in China. It argues that digital health platforms are new players in governing health in China. Platforms and doctor influencers now shape what health knowledge people see, how medicines are sold, and who can access insurance. They profit by turning health content into products, use data to guide user choices, and work with hospitals and public health systems. This makes health services more accessible but also raises concerns about the commercialisation and fairness of public health.
