The retail sales value of snack food in Japan amounted to a record high of over 530 billion Japanese yen in 2023, an increase from around 422 billion yen in 2014. Snack food in Japan most commonly refers to savory fried or puffed snacks consumed in between of meals, like chips, puffed grains or corn-based snacks.
