资源简介:
The recent classification of periodontitis disease in stages and grades has incorporated criteria of disease severity and complexity and patterns of progression. However, did not incorporate any etiological criteria to differentiate among these stages or grades since the use of microbiological and host-response diagnostics did not allow to distinguish among periodontitis patients. The purpose of this cross-sectional observational study to compare the composition and diversity of the subgingival microbiome in patients with different periodontal stages from two distinct geographical populations (Spain and Colombia). We studied 60 subgingival biofilm samples were collected in Spain (n= 30) and Colombia (n= 30) from three distinctive patient categories: (1) periodontal health/gingivitis n= 20; (2) stages I-II periodontitis n= 20; (3) stages III-IV periodontitis n= 20 and evaluated by 16S rRNA gene amplification sequencing. Amplicon Sequence Variants (ASVs) were used to assign taxonomical categories compared with the Human Oral Microbiome Database (eHOMD) (threshold of > 97% identity).
