This series contains images in various formats produced or collected by Public Works. Sources of the images include current and former employees and professional photographers engaged by the department.Included are images documenting significant heritage premises and construction and restoration projects as well as the full range of government properties, infrastructure and undertakings, including public buildings, educational institutions, hospitals, police stations, court houses, gaols, boat ramps, bridges, dams, and water and sewerage treatment works.In addition, there are images relating to staff and corporate events, organisations and activities, including sporting teams and contests; social events, such as balls, parties and excursions; concerts and theatrical productions; staff farewells and award presentations; and examples of items produced to convey official greetings, such as corporate Christmas cards.Formats include black and white and colour photographs and transparencies, negatives (rolls and strips), contact prints and proof strips, glass plates and lantern slides. Some of the photographs are arranged in albums.It should be noted that, in most cases, the start and end dates in the listings are those provided by the transferring agency and often cannot be verified as many of the images are not physically dated. Consequently, dating information should be viewed with some scepticism.
