The reference sequence (RefSeq) genome assembly is derived from the submitted GenBank assembly (see PRJNA12966). Annotation provided on the RefSeq genomic records is based on NCBI annotation pipeline.
The Papio anubis genome, compared with the human and chimp genomes, will be useful for comparative genomics and the identification of human-specific differences.
Targeted regions of the genome were sequenced as part of the ENCODE project's comparative genomics analysis. Additional targets were selected for the Comparative Vertebrate Sequencing project.
