资源简介:
Sediment samples adjacent to eight fire-altered rock features at Sites CA-LAN-1777, CA-LAN-1780, and CA-LAN-3873 in southern California were examined for pollen to determine plants that might have been processed using these features. Charcoal samples collected within the features were submitted for identification to identify woods burned as fuel. AMS radiocarbon dates were obtained from the charcoal to provide temporal information concerning use of these features. Charcoal also was identified and dated from a drill auger in natural soils at CA-LAN-1780. Pieces of groundstone from the surfaces of sites CA-LAN-1777, CA-LAN-1780, CA-LAN-1781, and CA-LAN-3873 were washed to recover protein residues that would provide information about use of these groundstone to process animal or plant resources.
