The use of molecular fusion endo-tags for the isolation and purification of multimeric recombinant proteins

Molecular affinity fusion tags that are co-expressed with the target protein, enabling its affinity purification on an appropriate matrix using the binding properties of the tag are now widely used. Most such tags are attached at the N-or C-terminus of the recombinant protein. However with the increasing interest in the coordinate used of several enzymes or reagents in the biotechnology industry, or the possibility of producing multi-domain proteins, the use of endo-tags inserted between proteins or domains in the recombinant proteins is of interest.
