THE HISTORY OF LEXICAL STUDIES BASED ON THE IDEOGRAPHIC PRINCIPLE

This article analyzes the history of the formation and development of the study and classification of vocabulary according to the ideographic principle in linguistics and lexicography. It highlights the theoretical and methodological evolution of arranging words not in the traditional alphabetical order, but in a system of concepts, spiritual fields, and subject groups. The role of the ideographic approach in reflecting the linguistic picture of the world, harmonizing semasiological and onomasiological analysis, and in modern computer and educational lexicography is scientifically substantiated.
