This dataset includes sample characteristics, major element contents, and ratios, as well as trace metal contents in suspended and surface bed sediments collected along the Yangtze River–coastal ocean continuum during the flood seasons (July 2019 and July 2022) and the dry season (March 2021) (Table 1). It also provides sampling information, along with the organic and sedimentological composition of suspended and bed surface sediments from the Yangtze River Estuary system in July 2022 (Table 2). Additionally, compiled data on major elements (Al, Fe, and Mn) and trace metals (Pb, Zn, Cu, Cr, and As) in bed surface sediments from the same region are presented (Table 3).
