Expression data from ovaries and adipose tissue in hyperandrogenized(DHT-treated) mice

Mice under chronic dihydrotestosterone (DHT) exposion represented reproductive and metabolic disorders, which were based on the dysfunction of ovaries and fat tissues. We used microarrays to detail the global programme of gene expression and identified distinct difference in ovaries and gonadal fat pads between DHT-treated mice and control. 25-day-old C57BL/6J female mice were selected. Mice in the DHT group were implanted with silicone capsules containing 5 mg of DHT powder to mimic the hyperandrogenic state of PCOS patients. Control mice were implanted with empty capsules.The mice were euthanized ~60 days after implantation.Ovaries and gonadal fat pads were isolated from DHT-treated mice and control for RNA extraction and hybridization on Affymetrix microarrarys. We sought to obtain homogeneous populations of tissues from each group, DHT-treated mice and control, in order to increase the temporal resolution of expression profiles.n = 3 /treatment group
