The Sentiment Hidden in Italian Texts through the lens of a new dictionary - 2024 update

This study aimed to classify the Bank of Italy's Economic Bulletin from 2008 to 2023, in Italian and English, using an emotional scale to verifythe correlation between sentiment and the main macroeconomic indicators. A lexicon-based method, incorporating negations andintensifiers, was chosen. Additionally, a new Italian dictionary was developed, assigning weights to terms by considering synonyms andantonyms.
