资源简介:
A photograph of a worker posed next to a palm tree for its removal from San Gabriel for replanting at La Casa Nueva, 1925 August 09. The tree, believed to have been planted in 1775 by the priests at Mission San Gabriel, is partially removed and is tilting away from the camera. In the foreground is a large planter box, which appears to have been especially made for the occasion, judging from its appearance and a piece of lumber on the ground in the foreground left. Standing beside the tree, with his left foot on the tree or planter box is a man with a snap-brim cap, dark-colored shirt, with sleeves rolled up to the elbow, lighter-colored knee-length trousers, argyle-like socks and dark-colored shoes. It is assumed he was one of the laborers working on the removal. In the background right are some two-gabled roofs on buildings and fencing. At the background left are a variety of trees, but the exact location is unknown. The date is taken from photographs 48.22 and .23. On the lower right corner of the reverse is the stamped number "131" and the preprinted brand name "VELOX" is throughout the reverse. With some discoloration and surface soiling, the overall condition is good. Number-Units: 1
