This study aims to investigate the convergent strategies adopted by two different nutritional symbionts of ticks: Coxiella-like endosymbionts (CLEs) and Francisella-like endosymbionts (FLEs). We especially focused on their tissue tropism and used a multidisciplinary approach to examine tissue-specific localisation and potential functional differences between CLE and FLE of soft and hard ticks. Hence, we sequenced a novel genome of a FLE associated with the tick Dermacentor reticulatus.
