A Draft Transcriptome Announcement of Wheat Seed Gall Nematode, Anguina tritici

Anguina tritici, the wheat seed gall nematode, was the first discovered plant-parasitic nematode which can survive in anhydrobiotic condition up to 32 years. It is an economically important pest of wheat (Triticum sp.) and rye (Secale cereale L.) causing a disease called ear-cockle or seed gall, leading to extensive yield decline of 30-70% in undeveloped parts of the world. Here, we present the first transcriptome assembly of A. tritici, that will provide a valuable resource of important genes of survival and parasitism and also help to establish a link between other plant parasitic nematodes.
