This article explores how gamification influences student motivation in online language learning environments. As digital education becomes increasingly prevalent, educators seek effective strategies to keep learners engaged. This study examines whether incorporating game elements such as points, badges, and leaderboards into online platforms can enhance students’ intrinsic and extrinsic motivation. Data collected from 20 undergraduate English philology students indicates that 70% report increased enthusiasm and effort when gamified features are present. The findings suggest that thoughtfully designed gamification can play a crucial role in sustaining motivation, which in turn may lead to better learning outcomes. Implications for online curriculum design are discussed.
