Stenotrophomonas maltophilia was isolated from ballast water ship at Tanjung Pelepas Port. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first genome sequence of Stenotrophomonas maltophilia isolated from ballast water in Malaysia. This genome could give us the understanding of evolution, pathogenicity, virulence and serves as a model to investigate the mechanism of antibiotic resistance of Stenotrophomonas sp., particularly from ballast water sources.
