In our research group, we aim to identify the composition and structure of ruminal microbial communities (bacteria and archaea) in ruminants in response to various nutritional additives or compounds with the potential to reduce ruminal methane emissions under different dietary conditions representing diverse production systems (intensive and extensive). We have recently initiated the study of ruminal eukaryotic communities (fungi and protozoa) in response to additives, seeking to comprehensively understand the ruminal microbiome.By comprehending the effects of different additive components on microorganisms present in the rumen, these additives can be administered in a way that positively influences the reduction of methane emissions and the productive behavior of ruminants intended for meat and/or milk production.
