16S rRNA sequencing of gut microbiota in KK-Ay mice

Our study investigates the relationship between gut microbiota alterations and intestinal antibody production in KK-Ay mice, a widely used model of type 2 diabetes mellitus (T2DM). The intestinal immune system is closely associated with inflammatory diseases, including diabetes mellitus. In our previous studies, we confirmed that IgA antibody production in the intestine is markedly enhanced in KK-Ay mice, a model of type 2 diabetes, and that the types of antibodies produced are also changed. Therefore, the aim of this study was to clarify whether the gut microbiota may affect antibody production.
