Dataset overview This dataset contains MRI data from the Click & Switch study (N=68), which examined self-directed switching between Lecture and Instagram content. The data are organized according to the Brain Imaging Data Structure (BIDS). Each participant folder contains BIDS-formatted data for the following tasks and scans: - preTestRest: A resting-state scan acquired before the main iPad task. Participants were instructed to remain still and rest while viewing a fixation display. - iPad task: Participants viewed a mathematics lecture and could freely switch between the lecture and Instagram Reels. Participants could switch to Instagram, advance to the next Reel, or return to the lecture at any time. - postTestRest: A resting-state scan acquired after the main iPad task. Participants were instructed to remain still and rest while viewing a fixation display. - freerecall: Participants verbally recalled as much information as possible from the mathematics lecture and Instagram Reels viewed during the iPad task. - yoke: Participants viewed a recording of a history lecture and Instagram content. The timing of switches was determined by a previously recorded switching sequence rather than by the participant’s own choices. - localizer: A functional localizer task involving Instagram and control cues. Participants viewed Instagram, weather logos, and phase-scrambled images. The fmriprep directory contains participant-level preprocessing outputs generated with fMRIPrep version 25.2.5.
