In 2019, about 32 thousand male individuals applied for asylum in Italy. The number of female applications amounted to 12 thousand.In 2019, the total number of applications added up to 44 thousand. In October 2020, the most common nationality among asylum seekers was Pakistani, whereas Nigeria and Peru ranked second and third, respectively.
