Data used in "Slow earthquakes as rockbursts: evidence from deep rock stress accumulation and release modeling and time-domain seismic wave decomposition"

This dataset contains two kinds of files. First, processed seismic waveform data are obtained from the NIED Hi-net repository (https://hinetwww11.bosai.go.jp/auth/?LANG=en). The original data were provided in Win32 format and were converted into plain text (TXT) files suitable for use on Windows systems, following the instructions on the Hi-net website.

In our study, we analyzed 12 large earthquakes (M ≥ 7) that occurred in Japan between February 2011 and December 2024. Due to the enormous data volume, this Zenodo repository provides only a representative dataset corresponding to the 2011 off the Pacific coast of Tohoku Earthquake (M9.0), recorded at 8 Hi-net stations over the 30 days from February 10 to March 11, 2011. These TXT files can be directly used to replicate the analysis presented in [Title: Slow earthquakes as rockbursts: evidence from deep rock stress accumulation and release modeling and time-domain seismic wave decomposition, Author: Zonglu He and Takamitsu Oka, submitted to Scientific Reports].

Additional processed datasets for the other earthquakes analyzed in the study are available from the corresponding author upon reasonable request and with permission from NIED.

Access to the original raw waveform data requires registration at NIED and is subject to their data use policy. Redistribution of the original raw data is not permitted.

File format: Eight files of Zip and one plain text (TXT) 

Contents: continuous waveform time-series data from 8  Hi-net stations  

Sampling rate: [100 Hz]

 The second file summarizes our analysis results. Here, we save an Excel file containing the north-south direction results from the Yamamoto Hi-net station(n-s direction) for the March 11, 2011, Tohoku-Oki earthquake.
