Modelling effects of zooplankton patchiness on the dynamics of plankton communities

This project investigates the importance of zooplankton patchiness on the dynamics of phytoplankton-zooplankton interactions in planktonic ecosystems. It will undertake an integrated series of modelling studies using explicit numerical models of turbulence and mixing and more general, discrete-space, ecosystem models to explore the effects of patchiness on the magnitude of secondary production and the development of zooplankton populations.
