Datasets for Manuscript: Exploring Family Language Policy and Transnational Imagination

This qualitative study investigates the family language policy (FLP) of a multilingual Indonesian family in a migration context, exploring language practices employed at home and the ideological underpinning of these practices. The study further investigates how one family operationalises their language policies and how these policies have influenced the participating children's linguistic identities. The study collected data using semi-structured in-depth interviews with the Arnold family, which consists of father, mother, and three adolescent sons. The study shows how the Arnold family create and pursue a complex language policy as they not only navigate transnational challenges and opportunities, but also construct a transnational imagination.
