miR-185-5p is downregulated in placentas from gestational diabetes mellitus and directly targets CDC42. Trophoblast cell and GDM mouse models show that increasing miR-185-5p or inhibiting CDC42 suppresses the JNK/P38 MAPK–ATF2 pathway and reduces placental inflammatory cytokine production, identifying a regulatory pathway involved in GDM-related placental inflammation.
