Replication data for: Keeping control of regulation? Domestic constraints on the creation of independent authorities in emerging and developing economies

This file includes the newly collected data for our article on "Keeping control of regulation? Domestic constraints on the creation of independent authorities in emerging and developing economies" (forthcoming in Governance). The dataset includes information on the year of adoption of a competition law, the year of adoption of an independent competition authority, the year in which newly adopted independent competition authorities started operating, and whether a ministerial unit had been enforcing the competition law at the time that an independent authority was adopted. The dataset covers the 148 countries with over 500,000 inhabitants that were categorised by the IMF as non-industrial in 1990. The items are described in the codebook.
