Equine lameness detection and monitoring during diagnostic anaesthesia with an instrumented hoof boot

Dataset of ground reaction force measurements with an instrumented hoof (IHB) boot prior to and after positive diagnostic anaesthesia during lameness examinations in horses. The aim of the study was to evaluate whether the IHB is reliable to objectively detect and monitor lameness prior to and after successful diagnostic anaesthesia. The main hypothesis of this study was that there would be a difference in objective measurements before and after improvement in lameness by diagnostic anaesthesia. Horses were equipped with IHB on all hooves. Data from 1 to 2 trials before and after positive diagnostic anaesthesia were collected on a hard and even runway in a straight line at trot. Collected data per measurement include peak vertical pressure, impulse, peak loading rate, time of peak vertical pressure, stride duration, stance duration, swing duration and relative stance duration.
