Each data file is summarized below. "Body condition per year.RDS": Body condition residuals per year. Individual: Unique ID for each badger. Year: Year for which body condition is being summarized. Body_condition_residual: Average of individual residuals during the year in question from a model incorporating sex, season, and a smoothed spline of age (in years), allowing the spline to vary with season. "Environmental conditions.RDS": Environmental conditions per year. Year: Year for which environmental metrics apply. Cubs: Number of cubs traced in the study area that year. MNA_adjusted: Ni, trapping efficiency-adjusted population density as specified in the manuscript. Male_adults: Male Ni. Female_adults: Female Ni. TE: Trapping efficiency for the year (see manuscript). Mean_temp: Mean daily temperature for the year. Sigma_temp: Mean daily deviation from sinusoidal annual fit to daily temperatures. Seasonality_temp: Amplitude of sinusoidal annual fit to daily temperatures. Mean_rain: Mean daily rainfall for the year. CV_rain: Coefficient of variation of daily rainfall for the year. "Individual data.RDS": Individual life-history metrics. Individual: Individual badger identifier. Sex: Badger sex. Birth_year: Year in which badger was born (if trapped as cub) or in which badger was inferred to be born from toothwear (if first trapped as an adult). Max_age: Maximum age at which badger was trapped. Note, this is before plausibility analysis, so do consider that extreme values (>14 years) are likely due to improper aging of individuals first caught as adults. Total_offspring: Total offspring assigned to individual in their lifetime. Alpha: Age at first successful mating (males) or primiparity (females). NA if never assigned offspring. Fertility: Number of offspring produced/years of reproductive viability. NA if never assigned offspring. F_a: Ratio of fertility to alpha. "Parentage assignments.RDS": Yearly parentage assignments. Individual: Unique badger identifier. 1987-2018: 0 if badger was not assigned offspring that year. Otherwise, a number providing the number of cubs a badger was assigned that year.
