The objective of this research is to understand how the productivity of Skeleton Lake (81.49N, 71.28W), Ellesmere Island, Nunavut is impacted by climate change by comparing ice-on and ice-off metabolic processes. The aim is to collectively quantify net primary productivity in surface waters, ecosystem respiration, air-water carbon dioxide (CO2) fluxes; and, to additionally characterize water chemistry. Together, these measurements provide a clearer understanding of the whole ecosystem metabolism of Skeleton Lake.
